Frequently Asked Questions
Q: We don't have a piano at our venue. Does
that matter?
A: No. If there is a piano, great. If there isn't, I bring my own
keyboard and p.a. system for a small charge.
Q: How does the booking process work? Do I
pay a deposit? When do I pay?
A: I used to take deposits and send out contracts, however it became
complicated and it really drags the booking process out. I take payment
on the night, and I send a confirmation email or letter with all the
event details. Of course, if you want to pay in advance, that is also
fine.
Q: How long does it take you to set up your
equipment?
A: For myself as a solo pianist, if I have my keyboard to set up, it
takes about 20-30 minutes. For the full band, the best part of an hour
is needed.
Q: How long do you play for?
A: A booking usually involves 2 or 3 x 45 minute sets
Q:Can you play special requests?
A: Absolutely. On the day, I'm happy for people to ask for songs, and if
I know them, I'll play them. You can also ask in advance for songs to be
played. Please bear in mind that I am predominantly a jazz player, so
asking me on the night to play your favourite Nirvana tune will probably
leave you disappointed!
